Author Biography
Linas Alsenas, author of Gay America: Struggle for Equality, was born August 10, 1979 in Cleveland, Ohio. Linas was the youngest of three and ended up attending Harvard University as an Art History Major, with additional studies in illustration at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. Upon graduation, Linas move to New York City where he worked as an editor for Interior Design Magazine until a recent career path change where he took on the role as editor at Abrams Books for Young Readers. Linas continued to work with Abrams until his most recent career change to writer and illustrator. He currently resides in Stockholm, Sweden where he is currently involved with his husband, Jan Wilhelmsson.
Though Linas has written many works such as Mrs. Claus Takes a Vacation, Peanut, and Hello My Name is Bob, he is most known for his work, Gay America: Struggle for Equality, which happened to be the first gay history textbook written for teens.
